FLF Alumni Lessons Learned Workshop AnnouncedThe AIARD Future Leaders Alumni Lessons Learned Workshop is scheduled to take place in Knoxville, Tennessee, September 16-17, 2019. While we are presently awaiting final word about funding for the FLF Workshop, we anticipate having several scholarship opportunities available for FLF alumni participation.
Interested FLF members from classes 1997-2019 are encouraged to apply by filling out the online application. Kara Casy, Director of Urban Agriculture and Renewable Resources at El Centro College and AIARD Secretary discusses the importance of giving various educational opportunities to all youth on this International Youth Day. AIARD is pleased to announce the 2019 class of AIARD Future Leaders Forum participants. AIARD awards twelve FLF scholarships annually, on a competitive basis, to students who have shown a demonstrated interest and outstanding record in addressing international agriculture and rural development issues and their solutions. These outstanding students will attend the 2019 AIARD Annual Conference and will visit a variety of NGOs, USAID and consulting firms to gain insight into career opportunities in international agriculture and rural development. Kansas State University is hosting the 9th Multi-stakeholder Partnership meeting of the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock (GASL) in Manhattan, Kansas, 9-13 September, 2019. The registration is now open for the meeting. Find out more HERE.
Presentations, panels, posters, field tours and discussions throughout the week will focus on the theme of Innovation for Sustainable Livestock Systems, highlighting examples from throughout the world of innovative solutions to address sustainable livestock production and agrifood systems. Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to network, learn, share research and experiences, and help foster dialogue to address livestock sustainability at the regional and global levels.
